Don’t Skimp On Sleep!

Sleep is something that we take for granted. Plenty of adults spend too much time working and less time sleeping. The average American is losing out on 3 hours of essential shut-eye every night. Why should we worry about how much sleep we’re getting? Well, here are a few reasons that should help you put a little perspective on spending some quality time with your pillows.

1. You’ll Be More Attractive

“Are you getting sick?” is a question that people often hear when they aren’t getting enough sleep. Researchers noted that getting the right amount of sleep helps you look and feel healthier which makes you more attractive to the opposite sex. Studies have shown that lack of sleep has even affected weight gain and obesity.

2. Longer Lifespan

Research has shown that people who sleep less than six hours a night have a tendency of dying sooner than people who sleep at least eight (which is the general consensus of the “perfect night’s sleep”).

3. Mood Elevation

When we don’t get enough sleep we are more irritable and cranky. Have you ever noticed that after you get a good night’s sleep, you wake up refreshed and ready to take on your day? Imagine feeling like that all the time.

4. Decision Making Skills

Have you ever gone to bed angry after a fight or struggling over a decision? Sleep helps clear your mind so when you wake up in the morning, you are more likely to make rational decisions. Sleep also helps give you hindsight, which is why you may sometimes wake up feeling apologetic about a fight that you had the previous night. Just get your rest. It is good for your overall health.
