Self-care has been thrown around a lot recently and for good reason. It is important for us to take care of ourselves, mentally, physically, and spiritually. However, these things shouldn’t cause more stress. Clutter and mess will add to our mental anguish and frustration. That’s why I wanted to talk about setting up some space for our self-care today. Even our self-care tools need a home, after all.
Craft Table and Cabinet
Hobbies are a great way to take care of your mind and mental well-being. However, hobbies often take up a lot of space. Knitting requires tools and so much yarn! Papercrafting will need space for paper, scissors, stamps/ink pads, etc. Even something that sounds small like miniatures take up BIG space!
I suggest investing in a cart with wheels for your tools and setting up a craft table that will house ONLY your current works in progress. Before you start a hobby (or continue with one you’ve already started), look into keeping your things organized. This kind of thought and attention shows that you care about and show pride in your hobbies as well.
Spa Box
I keep most of my self-care, skin-care items in a plastic tote. In that tote, I keep:
What you keep in yours might be different. Maybe you’re a bath person, so you might put bath salts in there. Do you like to have wine while you unwind? Maybe you have a favorite wine glass or bottle opener.
Reading Nook
Reading is an important way to keep our minds sharp. Set aside some time to read each day or each week. If you need to, set up a little reading nook for you and/or your family. All you need are:
