Move Your Buns!

There is no doubt that being physically active is good for your health.  Pair that with a healthy diet, and you will live forever.  Not really, but your chances of developing diseases like diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke decreases significantly. Most people are under the assumption that being physically fit is only associated with how you look and completely disregard how it makes you feel.

Yes, if you are a person who remains physical to avoid becoming overweight or obese, good for you, you are reaping from one of the many benefits.  Obesity is a massive problem in this country.  Obesity is a serious issue because it can result in low mental issues and reduce life quality.

Other than looking good, working out does make you feel good.

It can reduce stress and anxiety and has been proven to help with mental issues because it releases feel-good endorphins and other brain chemicals that enhance your sense of well-being.  Not only that, but it takes your mind off of worrying. There is an abundance of facts as to why working out benefits you and your overall well-being.  Although you know these facts, sometimes you don’t know what to do or how to incorporate them into your busy lifestyle. Here are a few of the many ways you can become more physical:

Park farther away

If you’re the type who likes to find the closest parking spot to the entrance, stop!  Start parking farther away in the areas where it’s almost impossible for someone to dinge your door because they parked too closely.  This will get those extra steps in.

-While you’re watching your favorite T.V show, get from underneath the blanket and move.

Create a circuit.  For example, ten pushups, ten jumping jacks, and ten sit-ups every time a commercial comes.

If you’re watching something ad-free, do it throughout.  Commit to doing the circuit a certain amount of times.

-Start small.

Sometimes, it doesn’t matter how long your workout; it’s what you do.  A seven-minute workout can be more effective than a 20-minute workout if done correctly.

TAKE THE STAIRS! If you live on a lower floor, 1-5, or have gotten used to taking the elevator when the stairs are right next to it, choose the stairs.  They are guaranteed to get your heart pumping.

There is no such thing as a bad workout.  All you have to do is move. The recommended physical activity per week is at least 150 minutes.  You can break that down into 30 minutes a day, five days a week. If you can’t do all 30 minutes at one time, break it up.  Being physically fit shouldn’t be looked at as a chore or an obligation. Being active benefits you and is something you should look forward to doing.  It should be a necessity just as eating or drinking water. It will help improve your overall health and make you feel good.
