What are your favorite memories as a child? Recreating and reinventing childhood memories is a great way to share a bit of our lives, get to know one another, but is also a wonderful way to reinforce those memories. Below are some examples of different ways you can reinvent your favorite memories from when you were growing up.
Date Night
One of my favorite things to do with my significant other is to go on a Memory Date. This is a great way to share a little bit of your life with your loved ones. You can either share this memory with your spouse, the person you’re dating, or even as a family day.
An example of how you can do this (especially right now during the height of COVID) is to recreate the menu at home, play some music, a movie, or you can play some ASMR atmosphere videos off of YouTube to recreate the ambiance of the place.
Let’s say that your favorite memory is going to an amusement park. You can recreate some amusement park food in the kitchen (maybe a funnel cake, barbecue some burgers outside, or make ice cream sundaes. Stream some amusement park videos off of YouTube (this is an example of a great playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9F9FdFES-4&list=PLaSG8acR0VSvOF76nGBrNFQmADaI8SYBq)
There are some wonderful “ambiance” style videos on Youtube. Some examples you might be able to use are:
Recreate a Photo
This is a great activity for your family and is a great present for your parents or for older people in your family who might remember the original photos.
Choose a photo which you and your family treasure. Maybe it’s a picture of you and your siblings making funny faces. Perhaps it is a family photo of everyone in a funny pose. Try your best to recreate it. Take a picture, and send copies of the original and the remake to your family. Not only is this a cute photo opportunity, it is also a wonderful way to share memories with one another.
