Eat This Not That

It would be great if we had someone to follow us around every day and knock the things out of our hands that we aren’t supposed to be eating, right? I’m pretty sure we can pay someone that would be happy to do that, but, in all honesty, it’s just not realistic. Plus, at some point, you have to learn how to say no and be strong enough to resist temptation on your own.

Bad food is not an issue. Too much bad food is. Too much of anything, relatively healthy or not, becomes a problem. Many of us struggle with eating healthy and sticking to a well-balanced meal daily. I mean, who doesn’t want to eat pizza or a juicy cheeseburger every day? The truth is, we can still eat the foods we want if we learn to do so in moderation. If you struggle with your weight and don’t know how to maintain a balanced diet, fear no more, we are here to help. Please take note of the following tips.

  1. Limit your soda intake. It’s true what they say about water; it’s good for you. The right amount keeps you full longer, helps your skin glow, and makes you feel good. Stay away from sugary drinks, including diet ones. If you want to add a little flavor, try infusing your water with some fruit.
  2. Choose whole grain/whole wheat over white. You will find that whole-grain items usually tend to have more protein and fiber.
  3. Read your labels. Stick to the serving size for your body type. Many people are overeating and don’t realize it. If you are not paying attention to the labels, you could be eating more than two times the recommended amount. That’s why those extra pounds aren’t going anywhere.
  4. Meal prep your meals. Yes, it takes time, but it’s so much easier to grab and go rather than snacking on multiple items while figuring out what to eat. If you don’t like leftover food, meal prep your proteins, and cook your veggies fresh.
  5. Stay away from too many condiments. Aim for the ones that have no fat or low fat and no sugar. There are more than you know that are out there.
  6. Add a vegetable at every meal. The more colorful you make your plate, the more likely you will get the minerals and vitamins you need to stay healthy.

Remember, small changes can make a big difference in your health. Don’t try to do too much too soon because it can feel overwhelming, and you will be more likely to quit.
